Using images instead of text for answer choices can add extra challenge, context, and variety to your Qstreams. This feature is available in both Classic and Survey question types.
Keep in mind that if you’re using images for answer choices, all the options must include images. You can’t mix and match between images and text-only choices.
Author Experience:
Simply select this dropdown to toggle to Images instead of text answer choices:
You will be presented with the option to add images to your answer choices:
You can also add contextualising text to each image option - but this text is optional.
You can also add Image Alt Text to each image, for readability by screen readers. This text will ONLY be viewable by screen readers, and can also be viewed by Program Managers and Reporting Managers in Qstream Insights.
Participant Experience:
For learners in a Qstream, questions with image-based answer choices work just like any other Classic or Survey question. Learners will see the images along with any accompanying captions provided.
Clicking on any image will allow you to zoom in on it, just like images in question stems or explanations. Simply click the 'X' in the upper right corner to close out of the image.
Click on the chosen answer choice to select it and submit the answer as usual.
The question feedback page will show whether the question was answered correctly and, if not, highlight the correct answer choice(s).
Reporting Experience:
In the Content Analysis tab of Qstream Insights, learner-selected answer choices with images are displayed as shown below. The display includes an indication that an image was used, along with any accompanying caption text. For convenience, any provided Image Alt Text will also appear in this field.
Note: Image Alt Text is only visible in reports or accessible via a screen reader. Learners not using a screen reader will not see the Alt Text.
